Medical Assistant / Office Assistant – Abilene (Full-Time)

Open Eyes Vision Center is seeking a reliable and compassionate Medical Assistant / Office Assistant to join our Abilene clinic. This role combines patient care with administrative support to ensure smooth clinic operations and an excellent patient experience. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays are required.

Schedule: Full-time, averaging 36-40 hours per week. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays are required - always our busiest days in the clinic.

Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

  • Prepare exam rooms and sanitize equipment
  • Escort patients, record medical history, and perform basic pre-tests (auto-refraction, tonometry, visual acuity)
  • Educate patients on eye health and contact lens care
  • Assist doctors during exams and maintain accurate EHR records
  • Monitor and restock clinical supplies
Administrative Duties:

  • Greet and assist patients at check-in
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow
  • Keep clinic and reception areas clean and welcoming
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Medical Assistant certification (preferred, not required)
  • Prior medical/optometry office experience (preferred; training provided)
  • Excellent customer service, multitasking, and communication skills
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; lift up to 25 lbs
  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented
