Job Description

Summary

Reata Engineering & Machine Works is launching our 2026 Summer Internship Program, designed for students interested in pursuing a career in advanced manufacturing. This is an 8-week, hands-on program where interns will gain real-world experience in CNC machining, engineering, and production within a fast-paced, high-tech job shop environment.

We are looking to hire 2–3 interns total across engineering and shop roles.

Program Structure

  • Duration: June 8 – July 31 (8 weeks)
  • Schedule: 15–20 hours per week (2–3 days/week)
  • Open Roles:
    • 1 Engineering Intern
    • 1–2 Shop (CNC Machining) Interns

Overview

Interns will work directly with our production and engineering teams, gaining hands-on experience with CNC machining processes, shop operations, and real customer-driven work.

This is not a shadowing program—interns will contribute to actual production and improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant program:
    • Advanced Manufacturing
    • CNC Machining
    • Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
    • Machining program at CCIC
  • Basic understanding of CNC machining and/or CAD/CAM software preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • For those currently enrolled, we are only considering Juniors & Seniors

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines under supervision (shop interns)
  • Assist with programming, setup, and process improvements
  • Support engineering and production teams on active jobs
  • Participate in quality control and inspection processes
  • Learn materials, tooling, and machining strategies
  • Troubleshoot issues and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Follow all safety and quality standards (AS9100, aerospace/medical requirements)

Work Environment

Reata operates a clean, organized, and technology-driven manufacturing facility equipped with advanced CNC equipment and automation. Interns will be expected to engage in a hands-on environment while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment

Compensation

  • Shop (CNC Machining) Interns: $18.00/hour
  • Engineering Intern: $20.00 – $22.00/hour (based on experience)

Reata Engineering is a customer focused, technology driven contract manufacturer specializing in precision machining and assembly. We provide prototypes, tooling, production machining and assembly to industries such as aviation & aerospace, medical, semiconductor capital equipment, and industrial. Reata was founded by Grady Cope in October of 1993 with $6000 on a credit card to purchase a used manual lathe and mill. In December of the following year, Reata added its first CNC mill and has consistently added equipment and people since. We proudly employ more than 50 employees and have 15 CNC production machines (swiss screw, lathes, vertical & horizontal mills, 5 axis, integrexes) in our 25,000 facility located in Englewood, CO.
