JOB PURPOSE

The Sheet metal Technician role will involve disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, fabricating repair parts, and repairing various aircraft flight control surfaces and other metal structures. 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

  • Utilize manufacturers and internal technical data to properly inspect and repair aircraft sheet metal components and other metal structures.
  • Apply epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat to repaired units.
  • Document status/results/completion in internal computer database programs.

Safety Requirements

  • Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and compliance.
  • Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries.
  • Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance, and equipment operation requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands: Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Requires frequent walking, bending, and reaching to shoulder level. Requires occasional squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds. Requires repetitive hand movement. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Equipment Operated: Common hand tools, drills, rivet guns, sheet metal shear, sheet metal brake, pressure washer, bead blaster, paint spraying equipment, and various general shop and office machines/equipment.

Protective Equipment Required: PPE will be provided.

Potential Hazards: Exposure to materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets.

Education/Training: Task-specific training will be provided.

Experience: No specific experience required but aviation sheet metal repair and painting experience preferred.

Certificates/Licenses: Valid driver’s license required.

Other: Other duties may be assigned in role to support other departments, personnel, or projects.
