Job Description

Sunoco LP is a leading energy infrastructure and fuel distribution master limited partnership operating across 47 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, Europe, and Mexico. The Partnership's midstream operations include an extensive network of approximately 9,500 miles of pipeline and over 100 terminals. This critical infrastructure complements the Partnership's fuel distribution operations, which serve approximately 10,000 convenience stores, independent dealers, commercial customers, and distributors.

Summary:

Under close supervision, this position is responsible for proving, calibrating and maintaining Sunoco’s Pipeline & Terminal (P&T) owned/operated measurement equipment and providing technical support for operating personnel.  Assist the Loss Control Department to ensure accurate quantity and quality measurements throughout P&T.  Moderate to extensive travel is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:

  • Follows established measurement practices and procedures to ensure accurate proving, calibration, certification, and operation of all internal/external measurement equipment.

  • Inspects and verifies the proper configuration / design of all applicable internal/external measurement facilities.

  • Procures parts and performs necessary measurement equipment maintenance.  

  • Recommends necessary changes to supervisor and implements approved action items.

  • Prepares and submits reports as necessary to meet the function of this position.

  • Follows established lockout / tag out procedures to ensure safety and environmental compliance.

  • Ensures truck, trailer, and portable proving equipment are in compliance with applicable federal, state, and DOT regulations. 

  • Prepares and maintains DOT driver logs, as applicable.

  • Reduces potential risk to public safety and environment to minimize company liability.



Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Advanced education preferred

Required Experience:

  • Applicant must have 0 - 3 years petrochemical product movement experience and possess above average mechanical skills.

  • A working knowledge of electronics desirable. Excellent verbal, writing, mathematical and communication skills required.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision required.

  • PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft products required.

  • Attention to detail is expected.  Must be able to independently proof work for accuracy. Expected to work alone 95%25 of the time.

  • The position requires physical abilities related to maintenance of measurement equipment, e.g., meters, provers, valves, etc. Expected to plan and schedule monthly maintenance and measurement activities. 

  • Under emergency situations, must be able to take immediate measures to protect public safety, the environment, and company assets.

  • Must be able to manage time and scheduling to meet deadlines.  Expected to work successfully in stressful situations and manage multiple tasks.

  • Ability to use awareness of relationships and impacts of data trends and elements to appropriately recommend actions that impact both near and long-term company operations and profits required.

  • Must possess necessary skills, satisfactory driving record, and appropriate class driver’s license to operate a pickup / prover trailer combination and drive long distances daily.

Working Conditions:

  • Climbing at least 60 feet on stairs at least a few times per week.

  • Climbing at least 7 to 11 feet on ladders or scaffolding at least a few times per month.

  • Lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. at least a few times a week, with the expectations that an employee can lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance, when needed.

  • Carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. for up to 50 feet on a weekly basis.

  • Walking 100 yards or more over 10 times throughout the day, with the expectations that employees could walk regularly up to 300 yards at a time for a total of 2 miles or more during a shift.

  • Walking on steep inclines for up to 15 minutes at a time.

  • Working in a crouching position several times per day for up to an hour at a time.

  • Bending and stooping several times per day for up to 30 minutes at a time.

  • Bending and twisting for up to 30 minutes at a time, including manually digging with shovels.

  • Standing in one place for up to an hour at a time.

  • Sitting for up to two hours at a time.

  • Ability to wear all appropriate personal protection equipment, such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, flame-resistant clothing, hearing protection, respirator/breathing apparatus, and/or fall protection, as required by the job activities.

  • Ability to use or operate the hand tools, power tools, precision tools, measurement devices and other tools or equipment required by the job activities.
