We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Assistant/Accounting Clerk to join our dealership’s accounting team. This position supports daily operational tasks within the accounting department, particularly in vehicle inventory management, banking activities, and general administrative duties. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, accurate, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle Inventory & Documentation:
    • Receive and route MSOs (Manufacturer's Statements of Origin) and titles after documenting stock numbers and creating vehicle files.
    • Stock in new vehicle inventory upon receipt of manufacturer invoice.
    • Post new vehicles into inventory upon physical arrival.
  • Title & Registration Management:
    • Assist with vehicle title transfers and lien releases.
    • Assist with title procurement through lien payoff or proper paperwork from the legal owner.
    • Sort, log, distribute, and mail license plates and vehicle registrations received from the Department of Licensing (DOL).
  • Banking & Finance:
    • Perform daily bank reconciliations and post daily bank activity.
  • Audit & Reporting:
    • Conduct audits on out-of-state deals for compliance and accuracy.
    • Update documentation and distribute reports via email on a weekly basis.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Backup deal scanner as needed.
    • Code and process deal referral checks.
    • Create, file, and mail adverse action letters in accordance with legal requirements.
    • Assist with the mailing of customer refunds and other checks.
    • Support other departmental duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant coursework in accounting or business preferred.
  • Prior experience in an automotive dealership accounting office is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Work Environment:

  • Office environment within a fast-paced dealership.
  • Regular interaction with internal departments and occasional contact with external agencies or customers.

The hourly pay range for this position is $17.13 - $18.50.
