Job Description

Social Video Editor Intern

Our Mission

The Dirt World—food, water, shelter, power, and transportation—is the foundation of humanity. And hardworking people are the foundation of the Dirt World. But these folks—who have served society relentlessly for decades—are retiring.

BuildWitt is on a mission to build the Dirt World’s next generation by helping companies attract top talent, train them to their fullest potential, and retain them for the long haul. Aaron Witt’s content is a key part of that mission—telling the stories of the Dirt World to reach the next generation.

The Opportunity

BuildWitt is seeking a creative and detail-driven Social Video Editor Intern to join Aaron Witt’s Brand team for Summer 2026. You’ll be editing real content for a large, engaged digital audience from day one—working directly with Aaron Witt’s Brand Director, Platform Strategist, and Vlog Director to shape stories that perform across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads, and X. If you believe every cut is a creative decision and great pacing is everything, this role was built for you.

What You’ll Do

•       Edit short-form and long-form content across all major platforms—treating every clip as a story with a point of view.

•     Craft retention-driven edits with strong hooks, intentional pacing, sound design, and motion graphics that elevate the story without overproducing.

•     Create clean, modern graphic elements including text animation, lower thirds, transitions, overlays, maps, charts, and visual callouts that enhance clarity and engagement.

•       Cut clips, reels, shorts, and sizzle videos from longer episodes with platform strategy in mind.

•       Write clear, engaging captions that improve content visibility.

•       Iterate on edits based on feedback, analytics, and platform performance insights.

•       Maintain organized project files, timelines, and versioning across multiple simultaneous edits.

•       Participate in brainstorming sessions to help shape content strategy before the camera rolls.

•       Give honest feedback on what’s working—and what isn’t—in footage, structure, and pacing.

About You

•       You’re humble, hungry, and have a genuine eye for what makes a story land.

•        You have the ability to source and integrate music, memes, trends, sound bites, and internet culture naturally into edits.
•        You have intermediate experience with Adobe Premiere Pro (required), After Effects, Photoshop, Frame, and/or DaVinci Resolve.

•       You understand pacing, hooks, and what keeps an audience watching.

•       You’re organized and self-directed—comfortable working independently in a remote environment.

•       You are highly detail-oriented with audio mixing, color consistency, framing, and export settings.

•       You’re familiar with short-form content trends and think critically about what performs and why.

•       Bonus: You have a genuine interest in construction, infrastructure, or the skilled trades—Aaron Witt’s world.

What’s In It For You

•       Hands-on experience editing content for a large, engaged digital audience.

•       Exposure to multi-platform content strategy and performance analytics.

•       Direct collaboration with an experienced content team who care about your growth.

•       Real-world insight into performance-driven storytelling at scale.

•       Paid internship: $16–$19/hr, starting June 1. End date is flexible.

About Us (Why We’re Not For Everyone)

•       We’re a start-up. We don’t have everything figured out.

•       We push ourselves as a team and as individuals, requiring a strong stomach for discomfort and growth.

•       We move fast.

•       We believe in transparency and practice hard conversations regularly.

•       Hybrid doesn’t mean we hang out and mess about.

•       It’s not about us—it’s about the Dirt World.

BuildWitt

BuildWitt was founded in 2018 with a simple but ambitious mission: Build the Dirt World's Next Generation. Aaron Witt was just a kid who loved construction and got a job laying pipe when he was 18. It was easy to see that some of the most interesting and talented people worked in the industry, so he started telling their stories. And it caught on. But what started with a kid and a camera has become so much more — an opportunity to push the industry we know and love forward to become #BetterEveryDay. Today, BuildWitt makes microlearning software for the critical infrastructure industries, operates the online community Connect, and hosts the Ariat Dirt World Summit.
