Job Description

The Post-Production Intern supports Studios' workflow by collaborating with editors and producers to organize, track, and archive all projects. This role offers practical skills development in media management and video coordination, ensuring efficient content creation and distribution.

The Post-Production Intern manages media assets for Areya's video content on OkayAfrica & Okayplayer. This role requires a strong understanding of the post-production pipeline, from ingestion to final archiving, and adaptability to evolving technical team needs:


  • Watching and analyzing video content to record precise timecodes and create chapter markers for YouTube and internal archiving.
  • Sourcing and gathering specific photo and video assets for editors to use in various projects.
  • Creating short clips and extractions from longer-form video content for social media, promotional use, or other purposes.
  • Ingesting new footage from shoots and meticulously archiving completed projects according to company standards.
  • Updating and maintaining project trackers and media databases to ensure the entire team has clear visibility on project status and asset location.

We are seeking a candidate who is deeply immersed in the culture we represent and is eager to build a foundation in media production. This role is a key support function for our creative team. To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A deep and authentic passion for Black culture, with a strong knowledge of its musical evolution, including Hip-Hop and R&B (from the 90s to present), Afrobeats, and Amapiano.
  • The ability to work on-site at our Brooklyn office 3 days per week and be based in the NYC metropolitan area.
  • A strong, practical understanding of various social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, etc.) and how video is consumed on each.
  • Previous internship experience or a portfolio of personal/academic projects that demonstrates an interest and aptitude for video editing and digital media management.
  • Hands-on experience with video editing software; proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro is highly desired. Familiarity with mobile editing tools (e.g., CapCut) is also a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a keen eye for detail that is essential for logging, archiving, and tracking assets.
  • A collaborative spirit with strong communication skills, ready to support the post-production team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
