Job Description

What You’ll Do

Established in 2022, the Kenyon Scholars program was developed by L+M to honor Debra Kenyon’s contributions to the company and communities after her 27-year tenure. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Debbie is fiercely committed to giving back to communities where she lives and works. She has served on the board of a variety of nonprofits; volunteering her time and expertise to support their missions.

As a 2026 Kenyon Scholar, you will work with a small team of Community Investment and Government and Community Affairs professionals. The 2026 Kenyon Scholars will support various activities, including database management, creating social media materials, and supporting community activities. The Kenyon Scholars will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills relevant to corporate impact, corporate philanthropy, employee engagement, government and community affairs, and social responsibility.

Kenyon Scholars will participate in L+M’s comprehensive intern program. During the program, interns will gain exposure to real estate development, attend site visits, and make a presentation on lessons learned to senior management. As a Kenyon Scholar, you will also have the opportunity to meet with Debra Kenyon to learn about her career trajectory and meet with various departments to learn about affordable housing development. Kenyon Scholars will receive a $1,000.00 stipend at the conclusion of their internship to support their academic pursuits for the remainder of high-school or their college career.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the Community Investment team’s grantmaking and philanthropy programs. L+M provides annual grants to over 50 nonprofits in four priority areas: workforce development, education and youth development, health and well-being, and arts and culture.
• Create Intranet and social media posts highlighting Community Investment and Community Affairs events and initiatives.
• Assist with database management, including entering grantee and volunteer data into Salesforce and learning database management and reporting skills.
• Other administrative and miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned.
• Complete a final presentation about your experience as a Kenyon Scholar, which may be used for future college or job applications.

Who We Want

• Rising high school senior or rising college freshman from the New York City area.
• Sincere commitment to L+M’s mission and core values.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects, willingness to ask questions, and work independently.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other databases is a plus (i.e., Salesforce), but is not a requirement.
• Social media marketing and data visualization is a plus, but is not a requirement.
• An interest in social responsibility, philanthropy, nonprofit organizations, government and community affairs, or database management, but the Kenyon Scholar will also have the opportunity to meet with and learn from various departments.
