Salary: $20-$24/Hour
Teams, Shifts and hours of Work:

  1. Front End Team: Sunday-Wednesday
    and Back End Team: Thursday- Saturday
  • Day Shift: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (9 Hours)
  • Evening Short Shift: 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM (5 Hours)
  • Overnight Shift: 9:30 PM - 9:00 AM (11.5 Hours)

Job Summary: Direct Care Providers are responsible for providing direct supervision of adolescent survivors of sex trafficking (ages 12-17) and implementing Individual Child Plans and programmatic elements within Sarah’s Home. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be able to provide direct supervision of adolescents.
  • Must be coachable and willing to learn and implement trauma-informed care practices.
  • Must be flexible and ready with interventions to help adolescents be successful in the Sarah’s Home program while they go through varying degrees of trauma integration.
  • Must be committed to attend all staff training and thoroughly read and understand all policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate and participate in daily activities: meals, chores, house-cleaning, recreation, homework support, and life skills coaching. Provide instruction and guidance to clients in learning and practicing life skills, including but not limited to budgeting, personal hygiene, communication, and self-care.
  • Willingness to be on-call on a rotating basis
  • Support and engage in outdoor activities with the residents such as hiking, nature walks, outdoor games.
  • Participate in equine-therapy related activities: helping with horse care (as appropriate), leading or accompanying the girls in equine-based experiences.
  • Lift, carry and transport supplies, equipment, gear (e.g., outdoor recreation gear, hiking backpacks, equine equipment) as needed.
  • Be prepared to assist in moving furniture or other items in support of house operations, activity setups, or facility maintenance.
  • Serve as a positive role model: engage in play, recreation, mentoring; build healthy, trusting relationships with the girls; participate in structured and unstructured activities.
  • Monitor behavior, document observations, support therapeutic staff in implementing behavior plans and safety protocols.
  • Work as part of the residential team: attend staff meetings, shift hand-offs, trainings, collaborate with case management, therapists, external partners.

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain a clean home environment
  • Able to prepare meals and oversee the preparation of meals
  • Assist in maintaining adequate records 
  • Able to transport youth in a Sarah’s Home vehicle to and from appointments or scheduled activities

Experience/Education/Qualifications:

  • 2 yrs college and/or 1 yr college experience in a human services field
  • Must not be less than 21 years of age
  • Experience working with teens (desirable) 
  • Experience with at-risk youth, trauma survivors, or counseling/social work is preferred
  • QMAP Certification: Must currently hold, or have the ability to obtain, QMAP (Qualified Medication Administration Personnel) certification within the next 6 months. This is required for administering medications and supporting clients' health needs.

Skills and Attributes: 

  • A passion for providing a safe and caring environment for survivors of sex trafficking to begin the healing process.
  • Ability to intervene and de-escalate in the house when adolescents exhibit challenging behavioral patterns
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

Physical Requirements:

This is a physically active role. 

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds (for equipment, supplies, outdoor gear).
  • Occasionally assist in moving heavier items (furniture, large equipment) up to ~75 pounds with team assistance.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (several hours at a time) during shifts and outdoor activities.
  • Hike on uneven terrain, climb slopes/trails, bike, be outdoors in varying weather conditions, and other strenuous physical activities.
  • Participate in equine-based activities: walking alongside horses, assisting with leading, grooming, handling tack, possibly mounting/dismounting, and supervising the girls in those settings.
  • Engage in active play and physical recreation: running, jumping, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and being on‐your feet.
  • Be able to quickly respond to emergent safety situations, which may require bending, lifting, or moving quickly.
  • Mobility to navigate indoor/outdoor environments, stairs, and uneven surfaces.
  • Able to work in a home environment: ascend/descend stairs, maneuver around furniture, assist in cleaning or moving items as part of maintaining the residence.
