Job Description

Fitzemeyer & Tocci is a full-service MEP/FP engineering and construction management firm with specialized expertise in a diverse range of institution and facility types, including Academic, Healthcare, and Science & Technology. We are currently seeking a Commissioning to join our dynamic team based out of our Woburn, MA office.  

F&T hires co-op students with the intention to introduce them to the MEP/FP consulting industry. Our hope is to provide students with an opportunity to learn about our industry and gain relevant experience. Our Co-Ops will be challenged with a “real world” experience to prepare them for post graduate employment. 

Duties / Responsibilities 

  • Assist commissioning engineers with field inspections and site observations for MEP systems 
  • Support functional performance testing of HVAC, electrical, lighting controls, domestic water, and life safety systems 
  • Participate in prefunctional check reviews and commissioning meetings 
  • Assist with development, organization, and review of commissioning documentation (checklists, reports, issue logs) 
  • Help track and document deficiencies and resolutions during construction and closeout 
  • Observe system startups and equipment testing alongside contractors and commissioning staff 
  • Assist with O&M manual reviews and turnover documentation 
  • Coordinate with project teams to support commissioning schedules and deliverables 
  • Perform general administrative and technical tasks to support the commissioning process 

Education and Experience 

  • Working toward a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering, Building Systems, or related discipline 
  • Coursework or interest in HVAC systems, controls, energy systems, or building performance preferred 

Skills and Competencies 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work in both office and construction site environments 
  • Organized, detailoriented, and willing to learn 
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office; exposure to Bluebeam or BIM tools a plus 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to visit active construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders as required 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 

Pay Range:

  • This is a full-time, hourly position. Pay range is $20-$30 per hour based on experience.

We are conveniently located in Woburn right off I-93 with plenty of free, covered parking, dining facilities and a free gym.
