Our diverse portfolio spans public works, commercial, and industrial projects, with contracts ranging from thousands to multi-million dollars. We offer comprehensive pipeline services that include sewer, water systems, drainage, pump stations, and specialty wet utility projects, handling projects of all scales from single-day and emergency work to large-scale endeavors.

Embark on a Journey Below the Surface with Paulus! This summer, we are seeking motivated, curious, and driven interns for Summer 2026 to support our growing Technology and Project Management teams. Interns will gain real‑world experience working on active construction projects, business systems, and data‑driven initiatives that directly impact the field.

Internships Available

1. Application Development Intern

Focus: Internal business tools, field applications, and process automation

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in designing, developing, and enhancing internal web or mobile applications
  • Support tools related to project controls, reporting, document management, or field data collection
  • Collaborate with IT, project teams, and end users to gather requirements
  • Write, test, and document code enhancements
  • Participate in code reviews and agile-style project workflows

Desired Skills & Coursework:

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • JavaScript, Python, C#, or Java
    • Web frameworks, APIs, or low‑code platforms
  • Interest in building practical tools that support construction or operations
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

2. AI / Data Intern

Focus: Data analytics, AI use cases, and operational insights

What You’ll Do:

  • Analyze operational, project, or financial data to identify trends and efficiencies
  • Assist with AI/ML prototypes (e.g., forecasting, risk indicators, document analysis)
  • Support data visualization dashboards and reporting tools
  • Clean, organize, and validate datasets from multiple sources
  • Work with business stakeholders to translate real construction challenges into data solutions

Desired Skills & Coursework:

  • Pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
  • Familiarity with:
    • Python, SQL, or data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
    • Basic concepts in machine learning or AI (coursework acceptable)
  • Strong analytical thinking and curiosity
  • Interest in applying AI to real‑world, operational environments

3. Project Management Intern

Focus: Construction project delivery, coordination, and controls

What You’ll Do:

  • Support project managers and field teams on active wet utilities projects
  • Assist with project documentation, schedules, submittals, and reporting
  • Participate in meetings with engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Learn construction workflows, safety practices, and quality control processes
  • Help track budgets, quantities, and change management items

Desired Skills & Coursework:

  • Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general project tools
  • Interest in infrastructure, construction, and field operations

Program Qualifications (All Openings)

  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Available full-time during the summer internship period
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and team-oriented mindset

Physical Requirements
    • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
    • Must be able to operate and work around heavy equipment and machinery.
    • Physically demanding tasks that include walking, kneeling, twisting, crawling, crouching, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
    • May require early morning, evening, or weekend work depending on project needs.
    • Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
    • Be physically qualified for lifting and moving heavy items, agile and capable of walking over rough, uneven terrain etc.
