Job Description

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is looking for a dedicated Clinical Technician to join the team in our Emergency Department. This role will be full time, evening shift (1:00pm-1:00am or 3pm-3am). Three 12-hour shifts per week. Days vary each 6-week schedule period. Candidates must be available to work any day of the week when scheduled. Candidates must be able to attend a paid 6 week training period, attending an initial Monday-Friday training schedule.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Assists in the delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • Provides basic activities of daily living nursing care (e.g. bathing and feeding) and measurement of vital signs and intake/output.
  • Demonstrates competency in all required clinical skills and technologies in accordance with Inova Health System policies and procedures.
  • Completes assigned patient duties within the established time frame.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development in providing care for the patient population assigned.
  • Completes necessary documentation accurately and reinforces discharge teaching and home care skills.
  • Communicates changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
  • Partners with Registered Nurse to create a professional development plan to provide employee with the necessary skills to deliver up to date patient care.
  • Performs phlebotomy, starting and removing IV’s, and other clinical skills, which will be included in initial 6-weeks of training.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Shift: Evenings (1:00pm-1:00am or 3pm-3am)
Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week (with every other weekend rotation)
Training: Candidate must be able to attend a 6-week training period, including virtual training sessions, classroom training days in Falls Church, VA (8:00am-4:30pm), and shifts on their unit.

Clinical Technician Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience: Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Certification: BLS within 90 days of hire (from the American Heart Association).
  • Training: Candidate must be able to attend a 6 week training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical Technician experience in a similar unit/facility preferred.
