Job Description

Maintenance Technician


This is the beginning level. Will perform the following listed duties and responsibilities, may have independence on some duties while close supervision on others. The employee works in a learning capacity performing a range of maintenance /mechanic duties while receiving close supervision. Duties include but are not limited to set-ups, bearings and minor machine repairs, some electrical (photo eyes/solenoids/etc.). Also has knowledge of greasing, lubing, cleaning, basic plumbing and carpentry, and able to do general building maintenance.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Facilities experience is preferred
  • Possession of forklift operation certification


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements of lock-out/tag-out safety procedures
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment operations
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills when dealing with others
  • Ability to read, write and understand governmental regulations and procedures and construction blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing one to seventy-five pounds or varying sizes and shapes a distance of one to one hundred feet
  • Ability to lift up to one hundred pounds
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely
  • Ability to perform squatting, crouching, twisting, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, kneeling, or stooping
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools
  • Able to work weekends and holidays.
