Magee - Women's Hospital of UPMC is hiring a Full Time Patient Care Technician to support the PACU in West Mifflin.
The PACU PCT role focuses on supporting nurses and ensuring patients are safe, comfortable, and monitored as anesthesia wears off. The core responsibilities of the PACU PCT are monitoring vitals, post-op care support such as positioning, dressing, toileting and mobilitiy, setting up and stocking equipment, and transporting patients. West Mifflin is a fast-paced outpatient surgery center with four operating rooms. We have a wide variety of surgeons that come to our facility, such as gastrointestinal, gynecology, orthopedic, opthalmology, and more! We operate Monday through Friday from 7am-3pm, giving a consistent schedule and a great work-life balance. Together you will collaborate with RNs, techs, surgical team members, and anesthesia providers to help us give high quality hands-on patient care in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
High school diploma or GED.
Must also have either:
a) 1 Year of general healthcare experience, OR
b) 6 months of experience as UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion for those with less than 1 year of experience, OR
c) enrollment in PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training program with completion of at least one clinical rotation, OR
d) completion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.
Successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class. Successful completion of eRecord training. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
