JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for performing a variety of complex clerical and operational duties to support the efforts of the Commercial Lending Division with the Centralized Lending Unit (CLU). The Commercial Lending Specialist I handles routine processing and underwriting or documentation of routine commercial loans; including collection and verification of the accuracy of the information being provided. This individual works with lending personnel to acquire necessary documentation to ensure compliance with banking regulations and policies.     

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process routine commercial loan requests 
  • Underwrite loan applications for proper documentation and compliance, including review of loan grading and collateral valuation 
  • Coordinate and complete data entry for routine commercial loan documentation 
  • Underwrite routine commercial request for proper documentation and compliance, including review of loan grading, collateral valuation and property searches 
  • Prepare routine commercial commitment letters 
  • Prepare settlement packages 
  • Coordinate settlements with lenders and title companies to ensure fast turnaround times 
  • Routinely incorporate compliance (knowledge of laws/regulations/policies) in day-today tasks
  • Review Loan Error Log to verify any missing items have been received and/or corrected
  • Respond to questions concerning all aspects of commercial loan documentation 
  • Verify and validate insurance, taxes, and other underwriting controls to ensure compliance 
  • Coordinate and testing updates to Loan Origination Systems  
  • Log loans into workflow pipeline and income tracking 
  • Review all commercial requests for any necessary HMDA entries  
  • Coordinate lending policies and procedures with manager, staff, other branches, and bank operating departments 
  • Perform other duties as assigned including occasional special projects, alone or as a member of a group or committee
  • Promote and preserve JBT’s values and culture
  • Follow Bank policy and procedure to prevent fraud and financial crimes
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to operate the following office equipment: adding machine, telephone, multifunction devices, personal computer including the MS Word and Excel applications and Internet 
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills   
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Proficient mathematics skills 
  • Thorough working knowledge with loan documentation requirements and government regulations 
  • A thorough understanding of the requirements and features of loan programs offered by the bank (rules and regulations, policies, underwriting, pricing practices) 
  • Expertise in commercial documentation
  • Ability to interpret policies/procedures and loan documents  
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy 
  • High level of keyboard proficiency 
  • Ability to successfully handle confidential materials 
  • Work well independently 
  • Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to multitask 
  • Ability to lift approximately 25 pounds
