Job Description

The Office for Student Empowerment (OSE) supports the socioeconomically diverse student community at Saint Mary’s College. We empower under-resourced students through financial, educational, and social support. 

Mission:

Position Summary: The First Gen Summer Intern for the Office for Student EMpowerment will work closely with OSE staff to support summer initiatives and prepare for the upcoming academic year. Interns will gain hands-on experience in event planning, marketing, student support, and administrative functions. 

This internship is ideal for students passionate about equity in education and creating inclusive spaces on campus. 

Hourly Rate: Stipend, $2500 

Hours Per Week: 15 hours 

Housing: Included 

Key Responsibilities: 

Programming Support 

  • Assist with planning and logistics for high-level projects such as the STEM Bridge Program and Next Gen Hoosier Leaders Program 
  • Help prepare materials and support student outreach efforts 
  • Contribute new ideas for programming to support first-generation and limited-income students 

Social Media & Marketing 

  • Design marketing materials for upcoming events and initiatives 
  • Draft social media content that highlights OSE’s mission and programs 
  • Collaborate with campus partners on promotional strategies 

Student Engagement & Advising 

  • Act as a peer resource for other students, especially for first-year support during the summer months 
  • Support staff in outreach efforts where needed 

Administrative Tasks 

  • Assist with day-to-day office operations such as cleaning, organizing, and inventory stocking 
  • Provide general support to the Office for Student Empowerment and the Division for Inclusion and Equity
