As a Financial Opportunities Specialist, you’ll support individuals—especially youth and adults facing disabilities or economic challenges—in building brighter futures through employment and financial stability. This role blends career coaching, relationship-building, and financial education to help people achieve independence and long-term success. Every day, you’ll empower others to reach their goals while strengthening connections across schools, families, and communities.
As a Financial Opportunities Specialist at Pathfinder, You Will:
Planning & Assessment
- Conduct individualized assessments of interests, skills, and support needs
- Develop personalized employment, transition, and financial plans
- Collaborate with families, schools, and Vocational Rehabilitation partners
Career Development & Employment Support
- Guide career exploration and job readiness activities
- Support job development, placement, and retention
- Provide on-site job training and workplace coaching
- Facilitate natural supports to promote long-term success
Employer & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with local employers
- Identify and secure meaningful employment and work-based learning opportunities
- Consult with employers on accommodations and job restructuring
Youth Transition Services (Ages 14–22)
- Deliver job exploration counseling and workplace readiness training
- Support work-based learning experiences
- Provide post-secondary education and career counseling
- Serve as a liaison between students, schools, families, and partners
Financial Coaching & Education
- Provide guidance on budgeting, saving, and credit building
- Connect participants to financial tools and community resources
- Support individuals in achieving financial independence
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and reporting
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, employers, and partners
- Stay informed on best practices and available resources

Requirements
Preferred Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Demonstrated ability to support people with disabilities.
- Ability to deal with a variety of behaviors that limit successful employment.
- Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and safe driving record.
- Basic language, written, and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation.
- Prefer knowledge of a variety of business operations.
- Possesses "sales-oriented" skills.
- Tact, poise, and judgment in working with agencies, employers, referrals, and school personnel, as well as their significant others, co-workers, and families.
- Demonstration of strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to work non-standard/flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
- Crisis prevention, intervention, and teaching skills.
- Ability to speak, hear, and read the English language.
