Are you compassionate, resilient, and passionate about helping others on their recovery journey? Join our team as a Full Time Residential Counselor and play a vital role in supporting individuals overcoming substance use disorders in a structured, supportive residential setting.

Position Summary

The Residential Counselor provides direct care and support to individuals in recovery, helping create a safe, positive, and therapeutic environment. In this role, you will work closely with clients to build life skills, encourage personal growth, and support long-term recovery success.


What You’ll Do


Client Support & Engagement

  • Provide emotional support, encouragement, and guidance to clients 
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused environment 
  • Monitor client well-being and ensure compliance with program guidelines 

Therapeutic & Recovery Activities

  • Support group discussions, life skills training, and mindfulness activities 
  • Encourage participation in treatment and community-building activities 
  • Educate clients and families on addiction, recovery, and coping strategies 

Crisis Intervention & Safety

  • Respond to crises with professionalism and care 
  • Ensure client safety and coordinate with crisis services when needed 

Collaboration & Case Management

  • Work closely with counselors, therapists, and medical staff 
  • Provide case management and coordinate services across programs 
  • Advocate for client needs and connect them with community resources 

Documentation & Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records 
  • Assist with facility operations and general administrative tasks 
  • Participate in team meetings and clinical reviews

Work Environment & Schedule

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the shift 
  • Use of standard office equipment 
  • Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs

Requirements

· A high school diploma or equivalent plus 1 to 2 years of relevant experience is required.  A copy of a high school diploma is required at the time of hire.

· This position requires immediate registration as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor Aide with the State of Maine within 30 days from the date of hire.  Additionally, a license as an ADCA must be maintained throughout employment.

· Holders of this position must complete a physical at the time of hire and at least once every three years.
