Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Admissions Intern for Transfer and International Students works alongside the Senior Assistant Director of Admissions, Transfer Students, as well as other admissions staff members, to provide information and assistance to prospective transfer and international applicants throughout the admission process.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a resource to prospective transfer and international students and their family members for the Office of Admissions by engaging with them via phone, email and in person.
  • Attend transfer student information sessions once a month at 7:00pm during our Transfer Decision Weeks to share student perspective.
  • Disseminate appropriate information to prospective students and family members in an effective and timely fashion.
  • Arrive on time for all work obligations.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of University policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of on-campus resources for transfer and international students.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required training programs.
  • Have basic experience with computers and familiarity with the University e-mail system and PirateNet.
  • Be familiar with University offices, departments, and resources.
  • Work independently and in groups, sometimes under pressure.
  • Have an understanding of the Mission of the University
  • Work all required admissions events, including Open Houses and Pirate Preview
  • Other admissions and communication related duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Successfully completed 15 credits by May 2026.
  • Be registered for a full time course (12 credits) load for Fall 2026.
  • Be in good academic standing.
  • Be in good judicial standing.

Must be enrolled in a matriculated program and registered at least half-time for Fall 2026

  • Available to keep in communication with prospective students and family members.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Be able to provide prompt and courteous customer service to prospective students and families.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner at all times.
  • Listen and respond to personal concerns and issues with a supportive attitude and assist students with obtaining appropriate University assistance.
  • Be familiar with the Village of South Orange community.
  • Assist students and parents with academic questions.
  • Possess excellent presentation skills
