Job Description:
The Air Permitting Intern will support the development of technical resources that enhance consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in air permitting and compliance activities. This includes creating standardized inspection and emissions testing tools, while gaining hands-on exposure to fieldwork, regulatory processes, and industrial operations.
Job Duties:
Assist in developing plan review inspection and emissions testing checklists.
Compile and organize an Emission Compliance Test Checklist.
Contribute to the creation of a practical Inspection Guide for permitting staff.
Support the development and review of required compliance reports submitted by facilities.
Help standardize templates and reference materials for consistent permitting practices.
Participate in shadowing staff during stack test observations and field inspections.
Gain exposure to emissions testing procedures and air quality compliance evaluations.
Support Air Permitting staff with additional assignments as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.
Solid reading and technical writing skills.
A background in environmental science or environmental engineering.
Highly motivated individuals with good attention to detail.
Interest in learning how Massachusetts regulatory programs.
Ability to work independently, and in an organized manner with strong attention to detail.
This internship is unpaid and designed to support students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in the field. Interns may be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university.

Start/End Date: 6/15/2026 - 10/16/2026
Weekly Hours: 22.5 hours
