Position Overview:

The EVG Operator will manufacture bar grating by operating a complex multi-stage electro forge welding line that processes and welds steel coils and wire into grating panels. The successful candidate for this role will be working closely with a team to operate this complex and technical piece of machinery to produce welded bar grating. The individual will provide input to supervision regarding machine performance, throughput, raw material needs, and maintenance issues. The individual will determine optimum machine settings and make machine adjustments to achieve maximum output and maintain established quality and safety standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Setup machines and preparation for production runs
  2. Load slit coils onto payoff racks using forklifts, coil grippers, and other material handling equipment
  3. Monitor coil payoff and feed operations to ensure smooth and continuous production
  4. Thread, cut, match, and weld coil ends as required to maintain uninterrupted machine operation
  5. Observe incoming materials and monitor equipment performance, reporting any malfunctions or material issues to the Operator or Supervisor
  6. Monitor runout, shear, and off-load equipment to ensure proper operation and product flow
  7. Inspect finished grating, identify completed pieces, and assist with job tracking and documentation
  8. Unload finished materials and move them to designated staging areas
  9. Perform minor maintenance tasks and report equipment issues to supervision
  10. Assist with inventory counts, material handling, and general production support as needed
  11. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
  12. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices and actively participate in safety initiatives

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous manufacturing or industrial experience preferred
  • Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Other requirements:

  • Must understand welding processes, methods, and quality assurance of welds.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems and related simple troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to use and understand basic measurement tools.
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools and can work well with them.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and management skills are essential for this role.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities.
