People of all faiths helping people in need.  The Cabrini Program provides legal services to vulnerable immigrant populations, including unaccompanied minors, DREAMers, Afghan asylum seekers, and survivors of violent crimes. Legal Interns support attorneys and accredited representatives through legal research, case preparation, client communication, and administrative tasks. All client facing activities are completed under supervision to ensure accuracy, compliance, and professional development. LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES This internship is designed to provide practical, supervised experience in immigration law and nonprofit legal services. Interns will have the opportunity to: Gain exposure to active immigration cases, legal filings, and court-related documentation. Develop legal writing, research, interviewing, and case preparation skills. Receive mentorship from attorneys, accredited representatives, and experienced legal staff. Build competency in trauma-informed, culturally responsive client service. Gain familiarity with petitions, applications, motions, and case management systems. Participate in internal training, including the organization’s three day Immigration Law Boot Camp series.  PRINCIPAL DUTIES Conducting legal research and preparing written summaries, memoranda, or other supporting materials. Assisting with client intake, screening, and interviews. Supporting case preparation by organizing applications, supporting documentation, and evidence. Drafting correspondence, declarations, and court motions under the supervision of authorized legal staff. Observing client meetings, consultations, and other legal proceedings as appropriate. Providing translation and interpretation support, when applicable. Performing data entry, file maintenance, recordkeeping, and general case documentation. Participating in required training, shadowing opportunities, and staff development activities. QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Currently pursing a Bachelor’s degree in Law, or Pre-Law, Juris Doctor or related field Valid Texas Driver’s License SKILLS REQUIREMENTS Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Effective legal research, analytical, and organizational abilities. The ability to work professionally with diverse and vulnerable populations. Sound judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint. Strong customer service and client-facing communication skills. Accurate data entry and documentation practices.
