Job Title:                  Transportation Area Manager                   Department:             Donated Goods Retail (DGR) Reports To:              Director of Operations FLSA Status:           Full Time / Non-Exempt Shift:                         7pm to 7am, Sunday - Wednesday Address:                  9320 Highway 6 North Houston, TX 77095   Resume is required indicating Logistics experience.   Mission Support: Goodwill Houston (GWH) is leading change, connecting people, and improving potential for the future of work.  We educate, train, and hire individuals with barriers to employment to help them thrive.  We connect people, families, and communities to improve lives and to meet the workforce needs of today and tomorrow.  Powered, in part, by donations and retail customers, we change lives through the power of work.   Position Summary: The Transportation Area Manager will support the GWH Transportation Department by serving as a dispatcher for GWH fleet.  They will also provide support and guidance to drivers to ensure team members are safe and productive.  The Transportation Area Manager will also be responsible for enforcing lean routing and ensuring that key performance metrics are achieved.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all drivers are properly equipped with all necessary tools to perform job duties.
  • Follow up with drivers consistently to ensure all routes are being completed.
  • Ensure all safety procedures are being followed, pre-trip, mid-trip, and post trip.
  • Support in conducting weekly/monthly L10 meetings with drivers to recap operation and safety performance.
  • Conduct bi-weekly visits with drivers to gauge and coach performance.
  • Collaborate with the team members at the location to ensure safe load and unload vehicles.
  • Must be punctual and have dependable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
  Additional Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate professionalism and presents a friendly, cooperative attitude.
  • Adheres to all GWH Policies & Procedures, Loss Prevention & Safety Regulations and GWH Guiding Principles.
  • Must be able to work 10 to 14 hrs. per day, four (4) days a week with flexibility to wok a 5th day as needed.
  • Must be available via cell phone consistently to adhere to all transportation concerns.
  • Ability to multi-task, make quick decisions and work in a team-oriented, fast-paced work environment.
  • Must maintain an appropriate appearance and adhere to GWH’s dress code.
  • Must conduct work in a safe manner and report all accident and/or injuries immediately.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Free from drugs and alcohol.

  Physical Requirements/Work Environment: The ability to continuously stand/walk for duration of shift, frequently push/pull, occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/kneel/reach above shoulders and climb a ladder. Able to lift, up to, 40 lbs. (fixture parts, cartons of product) and occasionally move up to 100 lbs.   Must poses the ability to get in and out of and drive a heavy-duty truck. Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time.   Indoor work environment with exposure to outside temperatures. The noise level in the normal work environment is, usually, moderate.
