Job Requirements

An Associate EH&S Specialist will work to develop, implement, and enforce environmental, health, and safety policies to ensure a safe, compliant workplace (OSHA/EPA). Key duties include conducting hazard assessments, managing incident investigations, providing employee training, and supporting sustainability initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive the implementation of leading/proactive indicators /metrics.
  • Develop and drive the implementation strategy to reduce cost associated with job related injury and illness and regulatory compliance.
  • Examine the work environment for various physical, chemical, biological and environmental hazards/stresses.
  • Define corrective actions that reduce stresses that impair health and ability of worker efficiency.
  • Drive implementation of specific recommendations to the proper level of management.
  • Maintain currency with all applicable standards and regulations so as to advise management as to the changes impacting Textron Sea & Land Systems operations.
  • Direct the evaluation of areas for hazards and make recommendations for improvement or protective equipment requirements.
  •  Advise management as to appropriate activities and controls measures.
  •  Interprets OSHA standards/regulations and maintains cooperative relationship with OSHA.
  • Develop & conduct health and safety training courses for supervisors and employees as needed.
  • Assist in the investigation of safety and health complaints and incidents.
  • Provide technical expertise & assistance to Facilities and Equipment Engineering groups in the design of protective equipment for uses on processes and machinery: and where necessary, redesign equipment to eliminate/reduce safety and health hazards.
  • Provide technical expertise to the business unit regarding day-to-day process operations, process changes and /or relocations, new processes, new products, new technology, new facilities and/or equipment and interaction with contract personnel.
  • Coordinate as required for the assigned business unit all activities involving outside regulatory agencies such as OSHA, Workers compensation function, etc.
  • Analyze standards in terms of engineering concepts on which they are based and apply these standards to meet specific situations. 
  • Provide assistance as required in support of the industrial hygiene function and to the other EH&S Staff members as required to meet the objectives of Textron Sea & Land Systems EH&S process.
  • Provide assistance as required in support of the ergonomic function to meet the objectives of the Textron Sea & Land Systems EH&S Ergonomics action plan.


Work Experience

Qualifications

·       Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field

·       Knowledge of EHS Standards, Risk Analysis, and Regulatory Compliance Reporting

·       Must meet ITAR/EAR requirements (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).

·       Strong communication and leadership skills to drive safety culture.

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Our facility is located on 60 acres with 300,000 sqft of production area. Our facility is fully automated with the latest CNC equipment. We maintain lean manufacturing processes and our facility is quality certified by the American Institute of Steel Construction and the Canadian Welding Bureau. We are also the only steel fabricator in the Gulf South certified to apply cryogenic, intumescent and lightweight cement fireproofing in house.
