Position Summary
The Electrical Fundamentals Technician supports electrical work through safe jobsite practices, basic installation support, material handling, blueprint reading, and hands on use of tools and equipment. This role is designed for someone building a foundation in electrical construction and maintenance while contributing to daily jobsite activities under guidance or limited supervision, depending on experience level.
This position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, safety minded, and interested in developing practical electrical skills in a structured work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Follow established safety procedures and maintain compliance with jobsite safety standards
• Read and interpret construction drawings, basic plans, and electrical symbols
• Assist with planning and preparing work areas for electrical construction tasks
• Select and organize materials needed for assigned work
• Use hand tools, light duty tools, and power tools safely and effectively
• Perform basic construction measurements and material handling
• Assist with installation of materials according to job specifications
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area throughout the job
• Support jobsite cleanup and restoration at the end of work activities
• Work as part of a construction team to complete assigned tasks efficiently
• Demonstrate quality craftsmanship and attention to detail in all work performed
• Assist with cutting wire, cable, conduit, raceway, and related materials
• Assist with pulling wire and attaching wiring components
• Assist with connecting conductors to switches, receptacles, and appliances
• Assist with installing switches, outlet boxes, and fixture boxes
• Assist with installation of feeders and circuits as directed
Required Qualifications
• Basic understanding of electrical safety practices and construction worksite expectations
• Ability to read and follow instructions, drawings, and job specifications
• Ability to safely use hand tools, basic power tools, and measuring devices
• Willingness to work as part of a team and learn electrical trade fundamentals
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Strong reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to follow direction
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to residential or commercial electrical work
• First Aid Certification
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
• Previous experience assisting with wiring, conduit, switches, receptacles, or feeder installation
• Interest in pursuing an electrical apprenticeship or long term electrical career path
Work Environment & Location
• Hands on role performed in active construction, shop, or field environments
• May involve lifting materials, standing for extended periods, and working with tools and equipment
• Work may be performed in residential or commercial environments depending on business needs
