Position Summary:

The Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily care, maintenance, and presentation of the golf course grounds, ensuring excellent playing conditions throughout the season. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of turf practices, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and surrounding grounds to established course standards.
  • Perform detailed bunker maintenance including shaping, edging, and ensuring consistent playability.
  • Operate and maintain golf course equipment such as walk behind and riding mowers, utility vehicles, trimmers, blowers, and other small engine equipment.
  • Assist with daily course setup and breakdown.
  • Participate in course improvement, construction, drainage, and renovation projects.
  • Identify turf, drainage, or aesthetic issues and proactively address or report them.
  • Perform hands on landscaping tasks including trimming, debris removal, and seasonal clean ups.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in a safe, clean, and professional manner.
  • Follow all safety procedures and proper handling of chemicals and materials.
  • Support overall team goals related to turf health and course presentation.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with a good driving record required.
  • Previous golf course maintenance or professional grounds/landscaping experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of turf maintenance practices and equipment operation.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Self motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular bending, crouching, walking on uneven terrain, and prolonged standing.
  • Work performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, rain, cold, and occasional snow.
  • Exposure to loud machinery, dust, pollen, and golf course maintenance chemicals.
