Your Primary Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Pathologists’ Assistant group assigned Pathologist and the Pathologists’ Assistant Supervisor, the Gross Technician (GT) will be responsible for the gross examination and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens on their individual training checklist, including the dictation of gross descriptions, according to the accepted guidelines established by the pathologists.

In general, a professional manner and demeanor is expected at all times to facilitate a cooperative working relationship with the anatomic pathology laboratory personnel, pathologist, and staff. Neatness, cleanliness, and organization are essential.

Highly skilled communicator regarding specimen processing for frozen section, gross pathology &/or autopsy pathology. Attention to detail to be able to recognize important and sometimes subtle gross abnormalities with knowledge of how to submit these in sections to arrive at proper diagnosis. Knowledge of current computer software and laboratory systems.

Work Schedule
Train: 12pm-830pm, M-F until deemed able to work
Permanent Shift: 2pm-1030pm, M-F, shift time is not negotiable
Weekday scheduling is determined by the Lead Pathologists’ Assistant.
Hours are variable based on staffing to volume.
Requirements
Educational/Training Requirements
Must have a Bachelor's or Associate degree from an accredited institution.
Experience Requirements
1+ year of Gross Technician experience, a plus.
