General Purpose: The Pharmacy Clerk provides administrative and customer service support within the pharmacy to ensure efficient daily operations and positive patient experience. This position assists pharmacists and pharmacy staff by managing prescription intake, maintaining patient records, supporting billing processes, and facilitating communication with patients and healthcare providers. The Pharmacy Clerk plays an important role in delivering patient-centered care that supports the mission of Stride and the needs of the community, including special populations. 

The Pharmacy Clerk is a non-licensed, non-clinical support role and does not perform pharmacy technician or pharmacist duties. All work is performed in compliance with state pharmacy regulations and federal requirements under the Health Resources and Services Administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative & Operational Support

  •  Answer pharmacy phones, call patients when refills are ready, and assist patients with general inquiries. 
  •  Receive, enter, and process prescription orders in the pharmacy system. 
  •  Maintain and update electronic patient records and documentation. 
  •  Prepare and organize billing information for medications. 
  •  Assist with ordering and restocking medications and pharmacy inventory as directed by the pharmacist. 
  •  Perform sales transactions for prescription medications, over-the-counter products, and other pharmacy items. 
  •  Operate point-of-sale systems and cash registers. 
  •  Support daily pharmacy workflow and maintain organized records. 

Patient Support & Customer Service

  •  Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors. 
  •  Gather and verify patient demographic and insurance information. 
  •  Communicate with patients regarding prescription status and pharmacy services. 
  •  Assist with coordinating patient pickup and pharmacy communication. 
  •  Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all patient interactions. 

Compliance & Quality

  •  Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and ethical standards. 
  •  Ensure accuracy in data entry, billing, and pharmacy documentation. 
  •  Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and pharmacy regulations. 
  •  Support safe pharmacy operations and adherence to health and safety guidelines.

Education and Experience

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent

Certificates, Licenses, and Registration

  • Required: Current BLS/ACLS from American Heart Association or obtained within 60 days of hire

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. 
  • Bilingual skills Spanish speaking preferred
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Knowledge of general office equipment including computers, phones, and copy machines. 
  • Valid Denver Driver’s License, proof of insurance, and preferable transportation. 

Miscellaneous Requirements

Compliance with employee health policies and procedures, including annual influenza (flu) vaccination or provide a medical/religious exemption, as well as undergo tuberculosis screening and testing.

Work Environment, Physical and Mental Demands

The work environmental characteristics, physical and mental demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job on a routine or consistent basis.  

  • Office environment within a clinical setting. Enters data into computer programs via computer, mouse and keyboard. Moves about the office environment and occasionally to other locations. 
  • Moves/transports objects up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally. / Moves objects up to 50lbs frequently and 100lbs occasionally. 
  • The role also requires sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, walking (over distance), climbing (stairs, etc.) 
  • The role also involves overhead reaching and repetitive movements. 
  • Mentally, the position requires comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction. 
  • Discerns/analyzes information from others to assist in decision making. 
  • Physical work in all weather and road conditions, including rain, snow, hail, and below freezing temperatures.?

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8 hours/day

STRIDE keeps it's right to change the work schedule from time to time by notifying the job holder in advance. 

We offer a competitive hourly range of $19.00 - $23.00, depending on your experience. 

This range reflects STRIDE’s good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting. The final salary for the selected candidate will be determined based on several factors, including experience, education, budget, internal equity, specialty, and training.
