Qualifications

Education—

Minimum: Currently enrolled in an accredited school/college of Pharmacy with a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED/Equivalent

Credentials/Licensure—

Minimum: Licensed as a Pharmacy Intern by the Michigan Board of Pharmacy

Related Experience—

Preferred: Must have completed at least 2 years of pharmacy school (i.e. be a P3 or P4 level Pharmacy student); have previous pharmacy technician or pharmacy intern experience

Other Knowledge, Skills Abilities—

Required: Ability to communicate in English (verbal and written)

Essential Functions

Add the following:

  • Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal and company policy.
  • Interact with all levels of medical staff to discuss relevant patient information as warranted.
  • Participates in the process of dispensing medications to patients. 
  • Reinforce patient self-management of medications through provision of education on proper medication administration, medication adherence, storage, and drug disposal.
  • Report issues and concerns to manager in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and company information.
  • Respond to drug information requests.
  • Maintains logs, records, and other required files and documentation; answers the phone and handles cash transactions.
  • Ability to efficiently work at all pharmacy workstations including order entry, filling station, phones, pick-up, and consultation.
