About the Role:

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) plays a critical role in supporting licensed physical therapists in delivering high-quality rehabilitative care to patients recovering from injury, surgery, or managing chronic conditions. This position involves implementing treatment plans designed by physical therapists, monitoring patient progress, and adjusting therapeutic activities as needed to optimize recovery outcomes. The PTA works closely with patients to provide hands-on therapy, educate them on exercises and mobility techniques, and ensure safety throughout the rehabilitation process. Collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams is essential to coordinate care and communicate patient status effectively. Ultimately, the PTA contributes significantly to improving patients' physical function, reducing pain, and enhancing their overall quality of life through compassionate and skilled therapeutic interventions.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:45am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current and valid state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic exercise principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in outpatient, inpatient, or rehabilitation settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Additional certifications such as CPR or specialty therapy techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse patient populations including pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Continuing education in advanced therapeutic modalities or patient care techniques.

Responsibilities  (may include but not limited to):

  • Assist physical therapists in executing individualized treatment plans for patients with various musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
  • Provide therapeutic exercises and manual therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist.
  • Monitor and document patient responses to treatment, reporting progress and any concerns to the supervising therapist.
  • Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs, proper use of assistive devices, and injury prevention strategies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment, ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized and functional.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and participate in team meetings as required.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards related to patient confidentiality and care.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Physical Therapist Assistant to competently deliver therapeutic interventions and ensure patient safety during treatment sessions. Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology guides the PTA in applying appropriate exercises and modalities tailored to each patient's condition. Preferred skills such as experience with electronic medical records streamline documentation and enhance care coordination. Additionally, advanced certifications and familiarity with diverse patient populations allow the PTA to provide more specialized and effective care, contributing to improved patient outcomes.
