Position Introduction:

Dr. Huxing Cui is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented candidate to join a NIH-funded research program investigating the brain circuits and signaling pathways that regulate metabolic and cardiovascular functions. The successful candidate will work with transgenic mouse models to conduct behavioral and physiological phenotyping, as well as histological and biochemical experiments. Prior experience with mouse handling is preferred. Background in neurobiology, physiology, molecular genetics, cell culture, or biochemical assays is a plus, but specific training will be provided. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at understanding how the brain maintains body health and identifying new therapeutic targets for conditions such as obesity and diabetes.

You will manage transgenic mouse colonies through breeding, genotyping, and weaning while assisting with blood and tissue collection and conducting behavioral, physiological, and pharmacological experiments. Your role involves performing wet lab techniques—such as cell culture, molecular biology, and solution preparation—alongside comprehensive data management and analysis. Additionally, you will maintain meticulous research logs, prepare reports and manuscripts for publication, and actively participate in lab meetings to present findings and discuss research progress with the Principal Investigator.
