Job Description

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the department Practice Manager and/or physician, performs a variety of diagnostic radiographic exams.

This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices� patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation. Is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients under the direction of an RN, LPN, physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.

Education:
Required:
A graduate of an approved JRCERT radiologic program (The Joint Review Committee/DNV on Education in Radiologic Technology)

Required:
Hospital clinical experience
Basic computer experience (1-2 years' work experience or college level classes)

Preferred:
Six months hospital and/or physician office experience

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
ARRT certified (compliant with all continuing education mandates)
ARRT registry eligible (must complete within one year)
Radiological student from an approved Radiology program that has completed all academic courses (must be registry eligible within three months and complete registry within one year)
BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and to be maintained going forward

Department Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Practice Manager and/or physician, performs a variety of diagnostic radiographic exams. Ability to perform Radiologic testing as assigned. Provides direct patient care under the direction of a physician.

The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.

The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess date reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. The employee will plan and organize the operation of the radiology services in the facility.

The employee will perform radiologic procedures as scheduled. The employee will also assist in the delivery of primary healthcare and patient care management under the director of the physician or nurse. Duties include but are not limited to preparing histories and vital signs, setting up exam rooms and instruments, collection of laboratory tests, processing of waived laboratory tests, and preparing and maintaining supplies and equipment used for examination/treatment.

Supports other practice operations as assigned by the Practice Manager or Physician. Maintains order and cleanliness of assigned areas.

Additional responsibilities may include registration, triage and clinical assistance to the physician when needed.
