School Psychologist Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm with flexibility to meet program needs

A Day in the Life of a School Psychologist:

  • Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary evaluation team with responsibility for completing evaluations of children including social histories, record reviews, and observations of students in preschool/natural environments.
  • May conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) as necessary. Collaborates to support completion of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) if required based on the results of an FBA. Monitors the BIP and assists the classroom teacher in completing regular progress updates.
  • Attends CPSE meetings to review results, discuss eligibility and develop IEPs as required.
  • Attends weekly evaluation and support team meetings.
  • Maintains ongoing interactions and provides consultation time for special education teachers and therapists. This includes conducting classroom observations and providing feedback to teachers on behavior management strategies.
  • Completes required paperwork for documentation and billing purposes.
  • Participates in team meetings for each student in the caseload for the purpose of assessment, comprehensive program planning, information sharing, and carryover of goals in all skill areas.
  • Provides IEP services to children and parents such as Parent Education and Training.
  • Facilitates a working relationship with families. Provides support and encouragement, as well as training/education as required.
  • Provides ongoing education and training to classroom staff on techniques and strategies useful for a variety of social/emotional and behavioral needs in children.
  • Consults with staff, parents, physicians, CPSEs, and other professionals as to any changes involving students' needs and programs.
  • Attends in-service workshops and appropriate conferences and/or completes self-study and mentoring for ongoing professional development to maintain certification.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect for all students, their family members, and co-workers. Maintains appropriate professional and personal boundaries including on social media.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Master's Degree in School Psychology
  • NYS certification in School Psychology (Public School Teacher Certificate- Certification areas School Psychology.
  • Experience/Knowledge of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Experience/Knowledge of Early Childhood Development.
  • Must possess a current, valid New York State driver's license that meets the Agency driver standards.
