About the Position

  • Medical Lab Technician
  • Full-time 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
  • Days, Evenings. Every 3rd weekend rotation
  • Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital Laboratory Department

Job Summary:

The Medical Lab Technician performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Here's what you'll do when you join us:

  • Understand and use scientific and technical language and symbols.
  • Recognize slight differences in shape, color, and texture.
  • Use eyes, hands and fingers to operate delicate and sensitive equipment.
  • Work precisely and accurately.
  • Follow technical instructions which may be oral, written, or in the form of charts or drawings.
  • Use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments.
  • Collects and processes all specimen types.
  • Participates in proficiency testing.
  • Ensures that patient results are reported correctly and seek help when corrective action is needed.
  • Follows all quality control and patient reporting processes.
  • Completes competency assessment.
  • Competent with the LIS and HER systems.

  2. Eligible for ASCP or equivalent (must obtain within 12-months of hire) required.
  3. Good interpersonal communication skills.

  5. Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.

Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital​, part of Fairview Health Services, is a multi-specialty integrated clinic and hospital located in Grand Rapids, MN. Specialty services offered include oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, OB/Gyn, occupational medicine, and chiropractic. The 50 bed hospital has a Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and Women's Health & Birth unit as well as a surgery center and comprehensive imaging and laboratory services. Grand Itasca is the largest employer in the area, employing 700+ people. The 183,000 square foot facility is located on 76 scenic acres along the Mississippi River.
