Job Description

SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of duties to set-up, distribute, and recover patient meal trays efficiently and accurately. Assembles, distributes, and/or serves meals for the cafeteria and special functions. Maintain areas of the kitchen, cafeteria, and unit kitchens in clean and orderly condition. Performs duties of Cafeteria Cashier and performs other related duties as required. Performs specific ware-washing duties as assigned

Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of food service sanitation, infection control principles, and uses accepted techniques in handling, serving, and storing of food.
Operates dish machine and pot &pan machine safely:
Records correct temperature readings during use.
Ensures detergent dispensers are full.
Reports malfunctioning equipment immediately.
Processes dishes, utensils, pots &pans:
Scrapes excess soil from dishes
Soaks all silverware, utensils, and pots.
Loads and operates dish machine and pot &pan machine.
Unloads machines and stores clean ware in appropriate place.
Cleans interior of dish machine and pot &pan machine, work counters, stainless steel surfaces, and conveyor belt area after each meal and according to standard procedures.
Removes trash from Department after each meal, transports trash to dumpster, and cleans cart after each delivery.
Follows posted cleaning schedules for Kitchen and Cafeteria equipment, refrigerators, freezers, storerooms and food carts and trucks.
Sweeps and mops Kitchen and Cafeteria floors when assigned using standard procedures and posts wet floors signs to ensure safety of staff.
Stocks cafeteria before and during meal service with trays, dishes, silverware, and utensils as needed.
Checks and documents the refrigerator temperature daily on the Mental Health Unit.
Fills and delivers floor stock orders to various patient units in a timely fashion.
Receives and stores food supplies in storerooms, freezers, and refrigerators as assigned.
Assembles patient trays for the following patient population:

Child
Adult
Geriatric

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Duties require ability to use simple tools and equipment and follow simple instructions.
Required knowledge is usually achieved in grammar school.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Must be able to stand/walk 3-7 hours per day, twist/bend infrequently, and lift 25-50 lbs with good body mechanics.
Must be able to use both hands/wrists with moderate deviation, pinching repetitions and frequent fine motor skills.
Requires accurate near vision at 20/20, minimal far vision and color discrimination, accurate depth perception and hear whispers at 3 feet.

Pay Range:

$18.00-$25.82
