Nooter/Eriksen is seeking a Thermal Design Engineer to join the Thermal Design Team. This entry-level role is part of a team that is responsible for developing custom designs of heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) based on customer requirements, offering standard and unique solutions to challenges of the marketplace, and building a competitive advantage through innovation. This position is located in Fenton, MO. The expectation is that this will be a hybrid position depending on business needs.

As a Thermal Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of optimizing combined cycle plant performance and shaping the future of energy technology.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Thermal Design Engineer reports directly to the Senior Thermal Design Engineer and will design heat recovery equipment based on both the customer's process requirements and heating surface optimization, select materials for components operating at various pressure and temperature conditions, and size heat exchangers and auxiliary equipment based on the company philosophy as defined in design guidelines.

As the Thermal Design Engineer, you will evaluate customer specifications by making comments, clarifications and requesting missing/additional information, create detailed design of HRSGs including all calculations, generate auxiliary equipment specifications at the proposal and job stages, evaluating related bids, support the project team with technical issues through all stages of job execution, develop data sheets for Estimating, Sales, I&C and Drafting groups, generate the technical part of the Sales proposal, and actively participate in technical meetings with the customer at various stages of project development. You may be required to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10%.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS. We want the person selected for this role to be successful! The following qualifications are essential to be effective in this role:

  • Four-year college education in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with a minimum 3.4/4.0 overall GPA required, classes in heat transfer principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills, good judgment, ability to interpret data, analyze results and make quick decisions required.
  • Highly professional, organized, and trustworthy team player with superior communication skills and ability to build relatoinships; Proficiency in English.
  • Creative and driven to perform calculations with precision.
  • Ability to read, write, problem solve, make quick decisions, interpret data and analyze results; effective written and verbal communication is essential.
