POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Community Engagement Representative is responsible for driving residential and small business customer growth for GWI by executing highly local, relationship-based sales and outreach within assigned communities. This role leads door-to-door sales, community events, sponsorships, and grassroots marketing to build awareness, generate leads, and convert prospects, while serving as a trusted ambassador for GWI’s fiber internet services. The manager builds and maintains partnerships with local businesses, property managers, and community leaders, oversees local sales activities and budgets, and tracks performance and market feedback to inform ongoing acquisition and retention strategies.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive residential and small business customer acquisition through:
    1. Door-to-door outreach
    2. Community events and tabling
    3. Local sponsorships and partnerships
    4. Referral and neighborhood-based sales efforts
  • Represent GWI at town meetings, select board meetings, and community gatherings
  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders to grow marketing opportunities
  • Establish and maintain GWI visibility in key community hubs (e.g., transfer stations, general stores, community boards)
  • Execute grassroots marketing initiatives including flyer distribution, signage placement, and hyper-local campaigns
  • Support acquisition and retention strategies within multi-dwelling units (MDUs) and residential developments
  • Partner with residential property managers and leasing offices to execute move-in, referral, and on-site sales programs
  • Assist with onboarding, mentoring, and supporting seasonal residential sales representatives
  • Manage local sales activities, schedules, and budgets
  • Track and report on sales performance, community engagement, and market feedback
  • Operate and represent GWI using branded vehicles and promotional materials
    Serve as a knowledgeable ambassador for GWI products, services, and installation processes

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Previous experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:
    • Residential or direct sales
    • Community-based marketing or outreach
    • Telecommunications, utilities, or subscription services
    • Property, housing, or MDU sales environments
  • Strong familiarity with the local communities served is highly preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

COMMUNICATION SKILLS 

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable engaging with individuals, families, business owners, and community leaders
  • Ability to explain technical products in a clear, approachable manner
  • Strong listening skills with the ability to build trust quickly
    Confident public presence when representing the company at events and meetings
  • Professional written communication skills for basic reporting and correspondence

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Field-based role requiring extensive time spent within assigned communities
  • Regular evening and weekend work required to attend community events and conduct outreach
  • Frequent walking, standing, and door-to-door activity
  • Occasional lifting and setup of event materials (tables, signage, promotional items)
  • Use of company vehicle for local travel
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor events and outreach

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly rate: $60-70K Salary (based on experience)
  • Commission structure:
    • Residential and small business services: 100% of the first month’s service value
    • Commission eligibility based on quota and percentage achieved

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

  • This position reports directly to the designated Sales or Marketing Leadership role at GWI and works closely with internal sales, marketing, and operations teams.
