Job Description

Description

Responsible for performing routine and moderately complex microbiological testing to support the analysis of food and environmental samples. This role is responsible for sample receiving, sample preparation, media preparation, and basic microbiological testing in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), ISO standards, and laboratory safety requirements. The position requires strong attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This position reports to the Microbiology Laboratory Manager 

Work Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 am to 5 pm

Requirements

Key Responsibilities: 

- Sample and test preparation: prepare food and environmental samples for microbiological testing

- Media and Reagent Preparation: prepare liquid enrichment media

- Quality Control and Compliance: prepare and handle quality control organism, following ISO standards, SOPs, and documentation requirements

- Laboratory Operations and Safety: maintain and comply with all laboratory safety procedures and company policies

- Collaborations and Support with lab information management system (LIMS) as needed

Requirements

· Experience:

Minimum of (1) years of experience working in a lab either in industry or academia.

· Education: 

Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Biology or Food Science, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. 

· Skills: 

Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, able to handle multiple tasks, capable of prioritizing and planning work activities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness. Must be able to work with others to provide training in a professional and positive manner. Must lead by example. Must be proficient in the use of PC’s, databases, Microsoft windows applications including Excel, Word and Outlook. Must be able to safely use and operate equipment and other tools utilized in the process of performing required tasks.
