Job Description

University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a 80%25- 100%25 Licensed Practical Nurse to work in our Organ Transplant Center.

Duties to include:

  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
  • In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel. In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
  • Performs patient care related to vital signs, lab draws, setting up and assisting with minor procedures, in-clinic treatments, point of care testing and other duties as assigned.
  • Provides psychological support to the patient and family based on assessed needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Percent of Time: 80%25 - 100%25 (32 -40 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Shift rotating between hours 0730-1600/0800-1630. If not 100%25 line, must be available to work Tues/Wed/Friday with additional FTE work hours for the week on Monday/Thursday, rotating schedule to be determined. No weekend or holiday coverage. Coverage for M-F rotating late schedule required

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit. Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
