Job Description

INTERN, REGIONAL TRANSMISSION PROJECTS (La Crosse, WI)

Hourly Wage $18.00 | Anticipated hire date: ASAP

Support the Land team within Dairyland’s Regional Transmission Projects by assisting with real estate documentation, mapping, and data management activities while gaining hands-on experience in transmission project development and utility operations.

The Impact You'll Make in This Role:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with collecting, organizing, scanning, and entering real estate documents and data into DPC’s physical files, SharePoint sites, GIS applications, and electronic records management systems.
  • Support the creation and editing of property boundary shapefiles using AutoCAD and assist in transferring spatial data into DPC’s GIS platforms.
  • Review and compare transmission line Plan and Profile drawings with GIS data to help ensure accuracy and consistency of mapping information.
  • Assist in the creation, formatting, and printing of basic layout sheets using GIS applications.
  • Perform general proofreading and quality control of real estate documents using established checklists and procedures.
  • Record, organize, and prepare meeting minutes for project team discussions.
  • Participate in occasional field visits to project areas to support Land team activities, including coordination with field agents for document delivery and collection.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of Regional Transmission Project activities.

Your Experience and Expertise:

MINIMUM QUALITIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:  Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Cartography, Environmental Science, Business, Real Estate, or a related field. Students with coursework or demonstrated interest in mapping, land records, property research, spatial data or utility-related analysis preferred. 

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver’s License.

Physical Demands: Requires extended periods of computer use, including frequent keyboard and mouse activity, along with the ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform occasional lifting and bending.

Environmental Demands: Works primarily indoors, occasionally outdoors as directed.

Other Job Characteristics: Works under close supervision while demonstrating attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency. Maintains a flexible, positive approach to supporting a wide range of tasks, from routine assignments to more complex project-related work.
