Job Description

Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a CNC Machinery Operator - 2nd shift. The core hours are 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm.  The hourly rate for this position is $22.52 + $1.50 shift differential per hour.

What you’ll do:

JOB DESCRIPTION:
•    Setup and operate conventional machines; and operate only NC and CNC and automatic chucking machines to perform a variety of turning, drilling, tapping, boring, reaming, threading, forming, facing, milling, slotting, grooving, chamfering, serrating and deburring operations to produce a variety of explosion proof parts of various materials.
•    Machines include, but are not limited to, single spindle and multi-spindle drill presses and tappers, nameplate machine; cover machine; horizontal and vertical milling machines; spot welder; annealing oven; parts washers; multi-axis, multi-turret automatic and hand turret lathes, deburring grinder; automatic bar machines; and CNC turning centers.
•    Position parts into chucks, fixtures or loading devices; move selection levers for prescribed speeds and feeds; initiate machining cycle and remove machined parts.  
•    Operation sequence is prescribed.  
•    Make adjustments, change, and reset tooling to maintain specified dimensions.  Load castings and bar stock to insure continuous operation of equipment.  
•    Major adjustments and setups done by others, but may assist as directed.  
•    Operate weigh count scale, annealing oven, various hand and power tools; wash parts; assemble, pack and label various products as required.
•    Maintain a supply of materials to machines and remove finished work as necessary to establish a flow through the cells.  
•    May instruct others in the performance of job duties.
•    Refer to assembly drawings, wiring diagrams and machining blueprints to maintain tolerances.  
•    Check work periodically using fixed or adjustable gauges and visually inspect all parts for appearance and compliance to specifications; correct for any discrepancies.  
•    Exercise care to observe operations; note and refer improvements.  
•    Assist in isolating and correcting malfunctions in machining and control units. 
•    Perform similar or associated duties as required or directed. 
•    Assist in maintaining Material Replenishment System (MRS). 
•    Maintain accurate records and perform clerical functions as required.  
•    May produce move tickets, JAT's, etc. using the CRT.  Record Standard Work, graph load charts and maintain visual controls.  
•    Maintain work area, machines and control units in a clean, neat and orderly condition. 
•    Perform Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) activities as minor maintenance that includes cleaning, inspection, minor lubrication and tightening loose bolts.  
•    Administer the 5-S's. Follow standard or prescribed safety regulations.  
•    Refer all questionable cases to proper supervision.  
•    Duties involve application of some specialized knowledge and experience and the use of some judgment to comply with instructions or prescribed routines and to make minor decisions.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications: 
•    High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
•    Minimum one(1) years’ previous work experience in CNC operation  
•    Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future. No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographic area (50 miles) of Syracuse, NY will be considered for this position.
