Job Description

Full-Time Direct Care Associate

Salary: $37,058-$39,305 (based on assigned program and shift)

Shift Differential: Additional $2.50 per hour for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts worked

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking compassionate and dependable Full-Time Direct Care Associates to support adults in our residential and community-based programs.

This position is essential to our mission of fostering a caring community and empowering adults to reach their full potential. Direct Care Associates work across a variety of programs for adults, including developmental disability residential and day programs, Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF), adult mental health residential programs, and residential substance use programs serving non-pregnant women, pregnant women, and recently postpartum women and their infants.

By providing individualized, compassionate care, Direct Care Associates help promote independence, dignity, and overall well-being for the adults we serve. You will assist with daily living activities, provide emotional and behavioral support, follow individualized service plans, and contribute to a safe, positive environment for all program participants.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should have at least one year of direct care experience with adults with developmental disabilities, mental illness, or substance use disorders. A valid driver's license, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are required. Patience, reliability, and a genuine commitment to helping others are essential.
