Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Day to day as a Community Stabilization Specialist

As a Community Stabilization Specialist at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will perform a variety of essential functions to support individuals recovering from recent behavioral health crises. Your role will involve implementing skill-building interventions and engaging natural supports to facilitate effective de-escalation and stabilization strategies. You'll provide critical care coordination that acts as a bridge service, assisting clients as they transition between different levels of care.

Drawing on your knowledge of assessment and crisis intervention techniques, you will work with seriously mentally ill individuals, those with substance-related disorders, and emotionally impaired clients. Your responsibilities will include planning individualized development training, conducting needs assessments, and advocating for client rights and services. You will maintain thorough documentation, monitor progress, and coordinate appointments, all while fostering effective working relationships in a supportive team environment.

Proficiency in computer usage and effective communication are essential for this role.
