Job Description

Duties: Performs manual tasks at a skilled level involved in the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, ditches, parks, lawns, storm sewers, sewage plant, and using camera system to inspect drainage lines. Some positions will require the performance of other essential functions depending upon work location, assignment or shift. Some positions require working irregular hours, shifts, holidays, weekends, and call outs. Must have the ability to work independently and lead co-workers as a team. Excavates soil with hand tools, patches streets; repairs and cleans storm drains, and performs maintenance work. Adjusts pipe to insure proper grade. Assemble and disassemble barricades and shoring equipment. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; plus one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record. Position may require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; and standing for prolonged periods of time. PREFERRED: Knowledge in use of excavation equipment. Valid Texas Class B CDL and good driving record

    • Less than 6 years of service - two weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 6 to less than 11 years of service - three weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 11 to less than 21 years of service – four weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 21 to less than 26 years of service – five weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 26 years of service and up – six weeks of vacation per year.
