Job DetailsJob Location: ROCHESTER - Henrietta, NY 14467Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $19.50 - $23.00 HourlyJOB SUMMARY Agronomy Services Field Technicians bring value to the farms we serve through accurate and efficient field evaluation and data collection. Data collected is used to create nutrient management plans and regulatory compliance plans for farms. Primary duties include vegetable crop scouting and soil sample collection. These can be physically demanding and time-consuming positions. There will be regular travel throughout the Northeast and mandatory overtime during the growing season. There are regular out of state projects that require working out of state for extended periods of time. All technician work must be performed according to internal Dairy One/ACS standards and meet or exceed the requirements of the internal Technician Certification process. A level I Agronomy Technician will spend most of their time learning procedures, standards and expectations. Crop focus will be on vegetable crops. Most work will be performed under the guidance of a level 2 technician. Regular duties include collecting compliance and precision agriculture soil samples and manure samples, preparing samples for submission, scouting crops, and reporting data. This position is based out of Rochester, but serves much of the Western New York region.  ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Vegetable Crop Scouting  Scout vegetable crops for weed type and pressure, insects, plant disease, and nutrient deficiencies. Collect and report field data information and measure P-index for use in Nutrient Management Plans. Soil Sample Collection Collect compliance and precision soil samples using standard operating procedures. Prepare samples for submission using internal software and form submittal. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Non-research (production) agriculturally based field work. Farming (vegetable) experience is desirable. WORKING CONDITIONS Most work is performed outside which involves regular exposure to a wide variety of weather conditions including extreme heat or cold. Regular exposure to dust/dirt and noise. Regular regional travel (50+% of the time) and some overnight travel (less than 10% of the time). From Spring through harvest, hours worked will increase dramatically with frequent 10+ hour days. MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS Moderate data entry requiring close visual concentration. Work requires high level attention to surroundings and general conditions to ensure safety. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS Field work requires significant standing, walking, kneeling, and bending. High level of manual hand dexterity required to operate tools and equipment.
