Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Busser is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and flow of the dining room by removing used tableware between courses and promptly clearing and resetting tables after guests depart. The Busser greets guests upon arrival by serving water and provides refills throughout their visit as needed. This position also supports the service team by assisting servers with drink refills, pre-bussing tables, and performing various other tasks as needed to ensure exceptional guest experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties represent the core responsibilities of a Busser. Other related duties may be assigned consistent with the nature of this role.

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs. 
  • Obtain service area assignment at the beginning of each shift.
  • Promptly greet guests as they are seated and bring water to the table.
  • Ensure all water glasses are polished before delivering to guest. 
  • Remove used tableware between courses and provide tableware for the next course.
  • Clear tables after guests. Take tableware to dish room and place silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in appropriate areas for washing.
  • Between seating’s promptly clean tabletops, chairs, and replace linens. Check floor and clean as required. Reset and arrange tabletop. 
  • Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to server as needed.
  • Communicate with server and hostess to assure efficient seating, table utilization and customer service.
  • Assist server as needed with food delivery, especially with large parties and during peak periods.
  • Manage mounted and stand-up heaters, keeping propane tanks stocked and available. 
  • Ensure the busser station is clean and presentable. 
  • Ensure all child seating (highchairs and boosters) are clean. 
  • Thank guests as they are leaving and invite them to return. 
  • Reports to work on time, in full uniform ready to begin work. Uniform to include proper clothing, OSHA approved shoes, name badge, hair tied back, if necessary, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older. 
  • Previous restaurant experience preferred.
  • Must obtain a Riverside County Food Handler’s Certificate within thirty (30) days of hire. 
  • Must obtain Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification within the required timeframe.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods on varied surfaces, including stairs, concrete, grass, and kitchen flooring. The position requires continuous use of the hands, wrists, and arms. The employee must also be able to communicate effectively and perceive auditory and visual cues in a dynamic environment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position involves work in both indoor and outdoor environments where temperatures may fluctuate.
