schedule: 8 hours shifts, Holiday rotation, some weekend may be required

Position Summary:

The Mobility Technician is responsible for assisting clinical staff and members of the interprofessional healthcare team, as assigned, under the direct supervision of clinical staff within inpatient setting. This position performs delegated activities that include but are not limited to patient mobility, and functional activities, transporting patients to and from treatment areas and a variety of basic clerical functions. The Mobility Technician provides possesses the ability to exercise safe judgement and delivers exceptional patient care per guidelines established by the department to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.

Essential Functions:

· Works collaboratively with the department nursing staff and physicians, providing assistance to patients, based on previously identified needs, in assisting in the patient mobility.

· Organizes materials and supplies in the appropriate work areas prior to patient arrival, including but not limited to cleaning/disinfecting, gathering equipment.

· Assists with equipment storage, and supply procurement, keeping hallways and room egress free of clutter.

· Assists with responding to patient falls.

· Role models behaviors and skills, through peer-to-peer accountability, towards improving department score for patient satisfaction on unit-based scorecard, i.e. bedside shift handoff/report.

· Supports initiatives to prevent conditions such as pressure injuries, patient falls, and hospital-acquired infections by following infection control processes and conducting hand hygiene audits.

Required Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients.
