Job Description

Position Summary

Provide trauma-informed case management, advocacy, and service coordination to survivors and their children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking while residing in emergency shelter. This role assesses survivor needs, develops and monitors individualized service plans, collaborates with internal teams and community partners, and supports stabilization, safety, and long-term recovery through a survivor-centered approach

Job Description

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or related human services field required
  • Preferred: Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or license-eligible 
  • Preferred: CDCA certification and experience in victim advocacy 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed care and working with individuals impacted by trauma and co-occurring conditions.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license and insurability; ability to pass background checks (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed case management and confidential support, including crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, and follow-up services 
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans that support overall stability, including housing, mental health, employment, safety, and access to resources.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and compile reports in alignment with program requirements and outcomes 
  •  Facilitate workshops and skill-building activities to promote self-sufficiency, daily living skills, and long-term stability 
  • Support shelter operations through client engagement, conflict resolution, de-escalation, and team-based coverage as needed 
  • Collaborate closely with Family Services staff to support the needs of youth and families in shelter, including coordination of services, engagement in programming, and reinforcement of trauma-informed approaches 
  • Partner with internal teams and community providers to coordinate services and ensure continuity of care for survivors and families
  • Adheres to Service Excellence standards at all times.
  • Represent the organization in community events, coalitions, and taskforces as assigned.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, CARF standards and educational/certification/registry requirements.

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; step up and down; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk, hear and drive. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work environment: This position will be in a facility with victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. In addition to interaction with the survivors, the employee may have interactions with families of these individuals, the assailants and law enforcement.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week. Sunday-Thursday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Hours may vary and may include evenings, weekends and holiday coverage

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
