Job Description

Lead Material Handler - 3rd Shift Dunbridge   POSITION SUMMARY:           Provide assistance, leadership, direction and accountability to material handlers in all warehouse related activities to ensure departmental goals are achieved, operational and safety procedures are being followed, and daily operations are running efficiently and safely.   GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
  • Indirectly leads the assigned staff and provides day-to-day direction of staff activities to attain maximum profits and customer satisfaction
  • Reviews key analytics to provide performance feedback and to identify and report problems
  • Assists in planning, introduction, and implementation of new initiatives and process improvements
  • Motivates teams to high performance while ensuring compliance to regulations and rules  ​
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with Warehouse Supervisor, Second Shift Lead, and Shift Supervisors in planning for the daily shift activities in order to run as efficiently as possible and address any potential issues.
  • Direct material handlers to various warehouse functions when necessary. 
  • Be a “go to” person on the shift whom others can rely upon for assistance and direction related to the warehouse and office activities.
  • Work proactively towards continuously improving warehouse operations. 
  • Be able to assist other material handlers with barcoding issues and transactions.
  • Communicate with the Logistics Supervisor any issues that require further investigation.
  • Assist in performance management actions as needed.

  • Assist and direct labor to support recycling efforts.
  • Perform shipping duties as required.
  • Watering lifts weekly.
  • Utilize Production Supervisors as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Forklift-certified
  • A minimum of six months of warehouse experience, including forklift operation
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and all related functions of the material handler
  • Experience using a barcoding system
  • Basic proficiency with MS Excel and Word
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Outlook
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Strong work ethic and highly motivated
  • Demonstrate professionalism and respect at all times to associates and customers
SPECIALIZED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience leading a team
  • Strong knowledge of the products and materials handled by the PBE warehouse
  • Good overall knowledge of and relations with PBE internal customers
  • Knowledge of QAD
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have close, distance, color, & peripheral vision abilities along with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
