Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Packaging Associate II (Automation) primary responsibility is to operate and maintain various types of machines used in the production process. Your role is crucial in ensuring that machines are functioning efficiently and safely to meet production targets while maintaining product quality. You will work closely with production supervisors, technicians, and other team members to ensure a smooth production workflow.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Operate and control packaging and production machinery according to established procedures and guidelines (start, stop, adjust, and monitor equipment throughout production).
  • Monitor production output to ensure products meet quality standards; perform routine inspections and address any defects or deviations.
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance (cleaning, lubricating, minor adjustments) to ensure optimal performance.
  • Identify and troubleshoot machine-related issues during production to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine operations, production output, and maintenance activities; complete all required production documentation.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report any hazards or incidents to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Track production schedules and report progress, delays, or efficiency issues to leadership.

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with production supervisors, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations and communication.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Assist with setup, changeovers, and adjustments across various packaging equipment as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • 1+ year of experience as a machine operator or in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of machine operation and routine maintenance.
  • Understanding of production processes and quality control principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to [X lbs], and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Must remain compliant with all regulatory requirements for working in the cannabis industry.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Registered Agent Card as required by the state of operation.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working in a regulated industry (cannabis, pharmaceutical, food production, etc.).
  • Experience operating automated packaging equipment such as:
    • Pill packaging lines / sachet fillers
    • Edible packaging systems
    • Pre-roll automation equipment
    • Automated vape filling systems
    • Action pack or similar high-speed packaging units
  • Familiarity with GMP standards and compliance-driven environments.
  • Experience with production reporting systems or basic data tracking tools.
  • Continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing exposure is a plus.
